To return the server to operational state, our system administrators had to restore the MySQL data from the latest system backup. The time of the MySQL failure was March 27, around 13:00 EDT. The timestamp of the backup copy used to restore the data was March 26, 21:14 EDT. The server was returned to fully operational state at 15:50 EDT. Any database changes made between 21:14 on March 26 and 13:00 on March 27 might be lost.
